The main version of gimp has had this type of mode since 2.8 (7 years ago) so there isn’t much point to a fork atm anyway (unless they’ve added new tools). From what I remember back then the main work on it was done to make it a single window design. The last time I used gimpshop I was 17 or 18. It could just be a bare-bones reconfiguration he is using to scam people out of donations like in the past. My concern is that since it’s really easy to configure the current version of gimp to be like photoshop, the guy who controls the domain might be pretending to work on an actual fork. Have you tried the latest stable version (2.10.2)? What are the differences between gimpshop and that version? Here’s a list, maybe you’ve played one or more of my games?Īnd here is an article that explains how you can change the shortcuts to match photoshop (you rename a file from here and drop it into the settings folder). I was very happy to see that European developers from the demo scene changed that with games like Sword of Sodan, Hybris, Battle Squadron, Shadow of the Beast, Leander and Lionheart.Īround 1988 I started to design games myself. Games such as Xenon by the Bitmap Brothers could have scrolled much smoother on the Amiga, and feature more colors. The straightforward Atart ST to Amiga conversions were indeed a source of irritation. Other early favourites of mine were Barbarian by Psygnosis (great graphics, but awkward controls), The Pawn and Defender of the Crown (as already mentioned). I also remember buying Activision’s Hacker game for about $140, mainly because it was one of the very few first games that were available. The moment I started playing Marble Madness in early 1986 I was in heaven. Annoying things like school kept you away from that love. The C64 and Amiga were systems you really loved. Great times, and having been part of the whole scene back then feels somewhat special. I’d hate to have missed those experiences. Those were some magical moments, and in those years many more embedded themselves in my teen’s memories. ![]() I remember playing Marble Madness and Defender of the Crown for the first time, and I was blown away by the graphics quality and sound and overall experience. Our parents got us a snazzy complete Amiga 1000 setup a five months after it was released, including a memory upgrade.
